Biography
Linda Rossin specializes in poignant
portrayals of birds and mammals of North America and East Africa, and is quickly
gaining respect for her paintings portraying the great cats of the world.
Acrylics are her primary medium, but she chooses to work with oils for plein
air and large pieces. Linda is one of the few professional American wildlife
painters who embody animals in the traditional miniature* format. Although she
may specialize in these highly collectible little gems, she has also been known
to produce paintings upwards of six feet. She is especially interested in the
Impressionists, and although her work is detailed, Impressionistic techniques
are integrated into each piece, including miniatures. She may draw on
many sources for research, but it is her personal observation and wild
encounters that brings each Rossin painting to life. An adventurous spirit has taken this New
Jersey painter on a complex artistic journey from silversmithing, to fashion
design, to big city graphic art and advertising before she revisited her
childhood affinity for animals through wildlife art at the age of forty.
It may have been a long and winding road, but years of hard work and a
dedication to her craft have garnered Linda many distinctive honors, awards and
associations. As a Signature Member of the Society of
Animal Artists, Linda’s emotionally stimulating paintings have been selected
for inclusion in the Society’s Small Works Big Impressions, as well as
the Annual Members Exhibitions and National Tours of Art and the Animal.
The World Federation of Miniaturists featured her miniatures in The 3rd
Exhibition of Fine Art in Miniature hosted by The Smithsonian and The
4th Worldwide Exhibition, The Little Big Picture at the Bernie Regional Art
Gallery in Australia. Her paintings have also been published in numerous
publications, including The Best of Wildlife Art, Volumes 1 and 2 from
North Light Books. Linda’s images have been licensed to the Bradford
Exchange and Dimensions Needlecrafts to name a few, and her ever growing number
of limited edition reproduction prints are currently being sold throughout
North America and abroad. Ms. Rossin participates in many prestigious
national and international shows and exhibitions. She has served as both juror
and judge for several international miniature art events. Along with her
Signature Member status within the Society of Animal Artists (SAA) she is also
a Signature Member of: Artists for Conservation (AFC), Association of Miniature
Artists (AMA), Miniature Artists of America (MAA), and Miniature Painters,
Sculptors & Gravers Society (MPSGS). Other associations include: Cider Painters
