Biography Bucks County landscape artist Dean Thomas is known for his traditional representational paintings of the Delaware River between Upper Black Eddy and New Hope. His love for nature and the peace that it brings him is beautifully captured in his paintings. Thomas states that “the large part of being a landscape painter is the journey, the adventure of finding places that few others have found. To locate such places, Thomas hikes where most people tend not to venture - traveling the two or three miles downstream to find his subject matter. Thomas received the Parthenia J. Vandermark Award for Excellence in Fine Arts, Glassboro State College and the First place for Regional Art Competition of College Unions. While at Glassboro, Thomas learned the traditional approach to drawing and painting from three gifted professors and artists. “Daniel Chard taught me how to see things as they really are and how to be precise.” “Gerry Monroe taught me how to be a fearless painter and how attack the canvas.” “Herbert Appleson stressed drawing skill above all else, one must have a strong foundation from which to build upon.” “All three professors left upon me a lasting impression from which I continue to draw from to this day.” Accomplishments - Second place Tinicum Arts Festival 2006
